Justin Hansen

I've had a passion for computers and technology from a very young age. When all my friends wanted to be cowboys and firemen, I dreamed of working on computers instead. My first real technology job was as an assistant for an electronic engineer at a local company in my hometown of Roosevelt, UT. My job was to assemble and test prototypes of circuit boards used to remotely monitor and control oil and gas wells (SCADA for the geeks). From there I learned basic computer support and hardware assembly - and knew that I'd spend the rest of my career staring at brightly lit pixels on a screen! To my family and friends, I do "computer stuff". For those more inclined to the details, I am currently focused on "Cyber Security" and "Identity and Access Management". In a nutshell, I'm the guy behind the scenes working hard to make sure the bad guys stay out of the computer systems. Most recently I have been involved in developing solutions around PKI (the fundamental security technology that enables nearly all encryption on the internet). My background includes work on smartcard authentication, especially the government issued PIV cards. I also love exploring all things identity: from OAuth2 and SAML to SPIFEE and ZeroTrust. When I'm not working, I spend time hacking together solutions to cool and interesting projects or tinkering with my pile of computers at home. I occasionally even pry myself away long enough to do some hacking on the golf course which is the ultimate challenge!
