Kai Lange

I work as a consultant in anaesthesiology at Nordsjællands Hospital and as a Clinical Professor at the Institute of Clinical Medicine, University of Copenhagen. My research interest is perioperative care and especially regional anaesthesia and peripheral nerve blocks. Our aim is to eliminate perioperative pain. The major challenge with peripheral nerve blocks is to gain better control. We therefore work on developing methods that will provide control over peripheral nerve blocks, i.e. -duration (the single most important factor at the moment) -selectivity -precision -regionality (hip, knee and trunk are major challenges) -safety -ease of use We currently seek to develop methods for extending nerve block duration. We collaborate with the technical sciences (mechanical and chemical engineering, Technical University of Denmark and University of Southern Denmark and private companies). We believe that there is a huge potential in joining forces between the medical and technical sciences and the public and private sector. We are always looking for ambitious, innovative and curious students who want to be part of a team with an ambition of making a difference.
