Kamal Williams

I graduated from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale with a B.A. In film studies in 2005, and have been working in the area of media production and communications for the past 15 years. I taught Broadcast Technology at Hirsch High School in Chicago where my curriculum engaged the students in learning how to write, record, edit, and complete their own video packages. I have worked for Trinity United Church of Christ as the lead editor of all their video output. This includes, but not limited to, the weekly television broadcast (which airs on WJYS(Chicago, IL), Village TV(Cleveland, OH), UTV(Miami, FL) and their internet only affiliates), short commercials and promotional ads, and a weekly special interest internet show, Empowering Voices hosted by the Reverend Joan Harrell. I recently completed a series of videos with the University of Illinois Chicago. My work experience has allowed me to become familiar with multiple facets of digital media and communications. I recognize the necessity for driven individuals in the public art and media field is essential to the growth and development of an organization. On numerous occasions, I have had to maximize my problem solving skills and take initiatives to handle unforeseen obstacles. I have conceptualized, produced, edited and finalized promotional, musical and documentary projects. I am also the founder and creative director of Luella Cole, a fashion and product brand based in Chicago. I work with incredible graphic designers, print shops, and other manufacturers to create durable, fun, quality products to the marketplace. Luella Cole has been in operation since 2013.
