Kara is a cultural sector researcher and project manager with experience in libraries and archives, strategy and planning, IDEA, and program development. She has worked with clients of all sizes with a variety of needs across the globe. Kara spent two and half years as a Research Analyst at AEA Consulting, a boutique arts and culture management consulting firm, and led the team that drafted AEA’s IDEA and community engagement strategy. She is currently a Fellow at Lord Cultural Resources. As a graduate student at the Pratt Institute School of Information studying library and archive management, Kara's thesis interrogates the unique development of African American heritage work and institution-building from Reconstruction to present. She is an alumna of Swarthmore College where she designed an interdisciplinary degree in Black cultural studies, new media, and sociology. Kara serves on the board of Barrett Art Center, in Poughkeepsie, NY, and is an active member of several cultural professional associations, including the Association of African American Museums and the Museum Computer Network.
