Karl Johnson

I am an award winning, highly motivated engineering manager with over seven years’ experience of technical leadership, gained from numerous roles within defence aviation; most recently as an aviation engineering manager. I manage with an approachable and professional leadership style and have a passion for understanding the motivations within my team to help them develop and maximise their own potential. These skills enabled me to lead my team of 25 multi-skilled engineers, to achieve the 2021 REME Engineering Team of the Year Award, following our work in direct support of the Covid-19 crisis. I am an efficient and effective individual with a proven track record for enhancing business processes. Within my most recent roles I have implemented changes to standard operating procedures that have reduced operational deployment time of 25%, and decreased the workforce requirements for supervisor training by 40%. Outside of working I’m currently studying a BEng (Hons) in Aeronautical Systems Engineering at Staffordshire University and I’m very optimistic about what the future holds as a Newcastle United fan!
