Within the first 2 years of moving to Denmark-- I started my own business and continue to steadily expand ways I am working with expats & Danes in both languages and in different cities and companies, as well as globally with online therapy. As a psychologist, it is necessary that I communicate effectively in order to do my job well, but it can be really challenging to also do it in a foreign language. Naturally, it took some time to become proficient in Danish, as well as adjust to the many cultural, lifestyle and climate changes in Denmark. Fortunately, I am a diligent worker and have a lot of determination to make things work. My professional background includes both masters & doctorate (Ph.D) degrees from the US and over 18 years of extensive experience in various treatment settings in the US. In Denmark, foreigners have sought my help when struggling with acculturation, depression, anxiety or work/ relationship issues. Of course, I also work with Danes who choose me because of my higher education, diversified skills & global-mindedness. I have also put forth some efforts in the area of education here in Denmark. For example, improving cooperation between teachers and pædagoger in a boarding school and giving presentations to students. I am a guest lecturer at Mariager Højskole and previous English tutor with ABC Sprog Aarhus. Furthermore, I provide presentations / workshops to local businesses and international companies to improve employee relations and help them address the unique challenges of a diversified workforce and save money in the retention of foreign employees. I also have regular speaking engagements on topics such as intercultural relationships and maintaining overall health and wellness for expats to international clubs or at community events.
