Kartik Mehta

Kartik Mehta is the Co-founder and CTO of Saral Designs, a product-based start-up providing access to quality affordable menstrual hygiene products to low-income women in India. He has designed and commercialized the world's first de-central, automated sanitary napkin-making technology (patented). He is a graduate of the Department of Engineering Design, IIT Madras with a minor in Social entrepreneurship and Innovation. He is passionate about innovating and designing products that have a societal impact. He has created several devices such as an automated page-flipping device for people with different abilities, a water-conserving flushing mechanism, space-saving furniture, and more. He has worked at General Motors India as an NVH engineer and then ventured into machine & product designing. Before starting Saral Designs, he designed and sold several Special Purpose Machines in the packaging industry. He received National Entrepreneurship Award 2016 from the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, GoI. He has filed patents for four devices and has showcased his products at the Brunel Design show, London. He is also a winner of ASME ISHOW, a global competition for hardware-led social innovation. He has won the prestigious Indian Outlook 2019 BCH-EDANA award for best innovation in the hygiene industry in India. He has also been runner-up at Right Hygiene 2022 for global innovation in the hygiene industry.
