I have been licensed in Tennessee and California (inactive) for over 27 years. My primary practice focus is representation of individuals in employment matters, such as discrimination (age, race, religion, pregnancy, national origin, sex, sexual harassment), whistle-blowing and retaliatory discharge, wage and hour claims (unpaid overtime), violation of the Family and Medical Leave Act, and in non-compete and severance negotiation matters. In my practice, I also handle the drafting of Last Will and Testament packages, including Living Wills, Durable Powers of Attorney for Healthcare, General Durable Powers of Attorney (for financial matters), quit claim deeds, and master HIPAA releases. I assist clients with the probate of estates and litigate will contests, in addition. I am a Tennessee Supreme Court Listed Rule 31 General Civil Mediator. I mediate general civil disputes for private parties. I am admitted to practice before the following courts: U.S. Supreme Court, U.S. Tax Court, Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee, U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California, All State Courts of Tennessee, All State Courts of California. I am a member of the following professional organizations: American Bar Association National Employment Lawyers Association Tennessee Bar Association Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association Knoxville Bar Association I have been named a Top Attorney by a vote of my peers in Knoxville's Cityview Magazine in years 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020. I received my undergraduate degrees from the University of St. Catherine in St. Paul, Minnesota and my Juris Doctor degree from California Western School of Law in San Diego, California. I am a native of Minnesota. In other positions, I have been an Assistant Professor at the University of Tennessee, a Hearing Officer for the State of New Mexico and a Civil Rights Investigator for the State of New Mexico.
