Kathryn Jajko

I am passionate about doing high quality research that leads to tangible benefits for patients and communities, supporting high impact research led by Australian researchers and building capacity for future clinical research professionals. I am interested in new and innovative ways of undertaking clinical research as well as improving participant engagement and accessibility to research studies. I have significant experience as a site clinical trial coordinator across Phase I-IV sponsored and cooperative group clinical trials in Medical Oncology & Inflammatory Bowel Disease. I have completed the Masters of Clinical Trials Research at the University of Sydney (distance learning).I am currently a Project Coordinator at Telethon Kids Institute in the Ear Health team. I oversee several research projects as well as coordinate operational activities for the research team. I was the recipient of the ARCS Australia 2019 Katrina Campion Developing Leaders Program Scholarship, and completed the 2020 Telethon Kids Institute Emerging Leaders Program.My skills and experience include:- Undertaking study start up including feasibility, site selection and contract negotiations- Performing study visits with participants- Data management including creation of databases, data entry, query resolution and data monitoring- Completion of ethics, governance and regulatory documentation- Manage research grants, budgets and finance activities- Policy writing and implementation - Training and supervision of staff, students and volunteers - Stakeholder liaison- Working in a diverse multidisciplinary team- Coordinating events such as research and forums, conferences Further to my work at Telethon Kids, I actively engage with the wider clinical research industry and my local community in a volunteering capacity. My current volunteer roles include the Western Australian State Networking Group Convenor with ARCS Australia and the Volunteer Coordinator for the 2021 Relay For Life Perth event.
