About

I have a passion for pain medicine and patient care, which was sparked in 1994, when working as a Registered Nurse in a high dependency surgical ward, looking after critically ill patients: pain management is crucial to recovery. I was driven to learn more about the speciality, studying Acute Pain Management at New England University and then being the first nurse to complete a Masters degree in Pain Medicine at Newcastle University. As a Clinical Nurse Consultant I worked with medical pain specialists and multi-disciplinary teams providing all aspects of acute and chronic pain management. Motivated to take my career to the next level and continue making an impact within the industry, I pursued private practice and opened a private Pain Clinic in the Southern Highlands NSW, and also embarked on a degree in psychology. I then transitioned into the life insurance industry and gained an understanding of the problems associated with chronic pain and claims management. I was elevated into a Return To Work Technical Specialist role within TAL and then moved to a Senior Claims Assessor role at Munich Re Australia. Within this role I was able to hone my skills of return to work, and was awarded the CEO award for outstanding performance. I have been an active member of the Australian Pain Society. In 1998 I was a member of the working party that developed the clinical practice guidelines for nurses pain medicine. I delivered skills training courses for nurses in pain management for a number of years and I continue to make a contribution by speaking at conferences and clinical meetings. In 2005 I was invited to join the NSW Agency of Clinical Innovation Chronic Pain working party, which developed digital health education resources for healthcare professionals and their patients. In January 2020 I launched Amelio Health. Amelio Health offers a "Pain Team In The Pocket" for people everywhere and anywhere. My team and I offer education and medication management for people suffering with chronic pain, and practice decision support for rehabilitation consultants. Amelio Health helps clients overcome the challenges of resource deficiencies and disruptive processes to create innovative and operational excellence in an ever-changing environment.
