I have been working in the mining sector as an Environmental Engineer since 2003 overseeing development of approval documents, rehabilitation management plans, procedures and work instructions and overseeing on ground implementation of rehabilitation, including landform construction, ripping, seeding and rehabilitation monitoring. I have been involved in all aspects of planning for mine closure including: - landform design and erosion modelling - rehabilitation trials - modelling of post-closure water balance and pit lake quality - large-scale geochemistry programs - development of completion criteria - stakeholder consultation - cost estimating - development of Mine Closure Plans compliant with Western Australian government guidelines. I have a comprehensive understanding of the regulatory framework of the mining industry, as well as the effort required in terms of planning and implementation to achieve mine closure for both larger, long mine life operations (>20 years) and short mine life operations (<5 years). My experience from regulatory requirements through to relinquishment allow my to efficiently achieve rehabilitation objectives at any stage of operations. In my current role I am learning how to managed environmental risks in an area of high biodiversity value in an area of extreme terrain with high rainfall.
