Katy McMahon

My major career goal is to be a concert photographer for a specific artist. I mean, who wouldn't want to hang around a music group all day, travel, and take photos of them? That is my ultimate dream job, and even though it sounds impossible, I believe that I will obtain it someday. Until then, I would love to do travel photography! I have been so many places in the United States alone on vacations that have interested me when it comes to taking photos there. My education thus far is that I graduated high school in 2006, went to Joliet Junior College from 2007-10 and received my Associates Degree, Governors State University from 2010-12 and went for ElemEd but I never finished it, because I had lost the passion for it. Out of losing that passion, I gained it, more like realized that I had one for photography. I am currently at The Illinois Institute of Art in Tinley Park, Illinois and I am going for my BFA in Digital Photography. My only work experience in photography is when I was able to work at JC Penney Portrait Studios in Matteson, Illinois this past holiday season. I was trained in sales and in the camera room to take photo sessions. My other job that I have had for almost 10 years is working at a grocery store, so it has helped me somewhat with customer service and problem solving. My skills include but are not limited to, concert photography, portrait photography, landscape and nature photography, working with natural and studio lighting, working most of the functions on the camera, and many editing skills in Photoshop. I have been on the President's Roll of Honor for the past 3 quarters at my school.
