Keith (Max) Miller

So pleased and proud to announce that as of 23rd November 2020 I have been appointed to the position of General Manager of the Island Line on the Isle of Wight (South West Railway). Some huge challenges ahead...and some not so huge! Looking forward to it. I am a widely experienced Rail Engineering Manager, with excellent knowledge across all the major engineering disciplines. I would consider myself to be multi - disciplined in that respect. I began ‘on the tools’ as an Overhead Linesperson, many years ago, and climbed the ladder (literally and metaphorically) in relatively quick time. For the last 20 years or so, I have been a manager in the industry. I have overseen large departments within Network Rail, Tier 1 and 2 contractors, and also SME’s. I feel comfortable and motivated in any of those environments. Although my career has largely been spent in the area of Rail Infrastructure maintenance, you will see that I have also had a great deal of experience in Projects, Renewals, and most latterly Bid Management, Client Relationship development and Business Development. I have had experience of budget and commercial delivery, technical engineering compliance, contractual delivery and all that goes with the management of departments which have had up to 150 people working within. I am particularly strong in the areas of team building, motivation, people and client management, and of course fiscal control. Whilst with Carillion I almost doubled our revenue during my tenure, and also delivered a healthy profit margin.
