Kelly Bruce (Burr)

I started my career working for a firm of civil engineers designing and constructing motorway embankments, based in Bells Yew Green. I worked in the administration team but due to financial pressures, the company went into receivership but as part of my role I was able to visit sites where construction work was continuing. My employment in Local Government started at a junior level in 2001 when I joined the Traffic and Safety Team. I have attended various road safety courses and progressed to the senior position in 2006. Since then I have completed the 10 days AIP ROSPA course, partaken in over 40 safety audits and recently become a Safety Audit team leader. Various secondments within my department have enabled me to work on Section 278 and 38 agreements in the Development Control Team, as well as helping with the spend of the DFT grant to improve road conditions throughout the County in our Construction team. I am looking to change direction in my career, with either more safety audit work or more towards the planning aspect in terms of Section agreements and planning applications involving highways design.
