About
Ken Hall, a second-generation Teamster who has been a member since 1976, began his Teamster career working in the oilfields for the Pennzoil Company. After serving as a Pennzoil job steward and negotiating committee member for 11 years, Hall was appointed as Local 175 business agent in 1987. In 1989, he was elected Vice President, and in 1990 he took over as President of Teamsters Local 175 in South Charleston, W.V. He was elected President in 1992 and re-elected in 1995, 1998, 2001, 2004, 2007, 2010 and 2013. In 1993, he served as a member of the Teamsters UPS National Negotiating Committee and Chair of the Atlantic Area national contract Supplement. He was appointed Director of the International Union’s Package Division in July 1995. In 1997, Hall was named co-chair of the 50-person National Negotiating Committee for contract negotiations with UPS covering more than 185,000 Teamsters. When a satisfactory contract could not be reached, he helped lead a 15-day strike that resulted in a settlement creating 10,000 new full-time job opportunities for part-time Teamsters at UPS. In May 2002, Hall was re-appointed Director of the Package Division and again named as Co-Chair of the National UPS Negotiating Committee. Hall and General President Jim Hoffa brought home another historic contract in 2007 when they renegotiated a five-year contract a year early to save members from the coming economic collapse. The contract is the largest collective bargaining agreement in the country and now covers 250,000 Teamsters. Hall was elected General Secretary-Treasurer by the IBT membership in 2011. As General Secretary-Treasurer, he is responsible for managing the union’s operating budget, its investments and other funds. In 2015, General Secretary-Treasurer Hall was appointed as a member of the U.S. Office of Personnel Management’s (OPM) Multi-State Plan Program Advisory Board, serving as the sole representative from the labor movement.
