Ken Schwarz

Ken has over 40 years experience in the biomedical field and he currently holds the position of Network Director, Biomedical Engineering with Saint Luke’s University Health Network a multi hospital system. He is responsible for managing the medical equipment program, establishing and directing programs and services to network facilities and developing associated business plans. He directs personnel in the division to ensure that all clinical instrumentation is purchased, installed and maintained in accordance with applicable standards. He directs an equipment related incident and risk management program, monitors and controls cost effectiveness and productivity. His career started with a Trade Certificate in Electronics and then he enlisted in the US Army where he graduated from the US Army Medical Equipment and Optical School. While serving in the military Ken was awarded numerous awards and certificates including two Army Commendation Medals for using initiative and innovation in the biomedical field. Following an Honorable Discharge his career continued, working for the Medical Division of COMTEL, American Sterilizer Company (AMSCO) and Kinetic. Ken was one of the founders of Kinetic in 1988 and held several positions there, including Zone Operations Manager, Senior Regional Manager, Regional Operations Manager, Regional Sales Manager, and Area Manager. Ken was also a Senior Medical Equipment Planner and Clinical Engineer with Francis Cauffman, an architectural and design firm. Prior to joining Saint Luke’s Ken was the Senior Manager, Clinical Engineering Services for Siemens Medical Solutions. He was responsible for managing the overall financial and operational effectiveness of clinical engineering programs nationally at Integrated Service Management accounts. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Applied Science and Technology – Biomedical Electronics and Master of Engineering Management. He is also a certified Project Management Professional.
