Dr. Jhaveri is a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Kidney Diseases and Hypertension at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell in New York. He completed his residency training at Yale University New Haven Hospital in Internal Medicine and then a fellowship in Nephrology at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Weill Cornell campus. He subsequently has received additional training as a Harvard Macy Scholar in medical education. Dr. Jhaveri’s clinical interests are in caring for patients with glomerular diseases, and Onco-Nephrology. He is one of the founding members of the American Society of Nephrology’s workgroup on Onco-Nephrology. He is co founder and president of the American society of Onconephrology. He is a columnist for the ASN Kidney News for the section called “Detective Nephron.” His interest in nephrology education is expressed through using creative ways of teaching nephrology and medicine to medical students, residents and fellows. He has numerous publications on using social media, and other innovative tools (games, concept maps, role playing, and creative writing) to make nephrology a fun and exciting field. He served as the first blog editor of the highly ranked nephrology journal American Journal of Kidney Diseases (ajkdblog.com) for 6 years. He has conducted numerous faculty development seminars locally to teach these techniques. Dr Jhaveri has given grand rounds around the world on education innovation in nephrology, Onconephrology, Lupus nephritis, membranous nephropathy, TMA, MGRS, AKI related to HSCT, Targeted therapies and the kidney, Chemotherapy nephrotoxicity, topics in Nephro-cardiology, Monoclonal gammopathy of renal significance, Glomerular diseases associated with paraproteinemias, Paraneoplastic GNs, Myeloma and the kidney. He co directs the Northwell GN center and the Onconephrology service. His publications are in top journals such as NEJM, JAMA, JAMA Oncology, Kidney International, CJASN, AJKD and Uptodate.com. He runs the popular teaching blog called Nephronpower.com.
