Kerry Gilbert

After completing a law degree and kicking off my career as a Paralegal, I completed my CILEx Level 3 and Level 6 alongside my work in litigation for 7 years before making a career change and moving into the world of apprenticeships. I have always had a passion for training and development and really found my calling as a Legal Trainer/Coach working with a number of different apprentices and law firms across England and Wales. After a short time as a Coach I progressed to Team Manager for the SW and then to Programme Manager managing the national delivery of a number of the legal apprenticeship standards that are currently being delivered including Paralegal, Chartered Legal Executive, Conveyancing Technician and Licenced Conveyancer. I started working for a Training Provider in 2013 and I have seen how legal apprenticeships have developed from a basic business administration framework to the various different pathways that we see today, this insight and knowledge has been invaluable as I moved into the role of Apprenticeship Manager at TLT LLP. I am passionate about apprenticeships, about alternative career pathways and diversifying the legal profession this is in part one of the reasons why I have been nominated as Joint Vice Chair of the Solicitor Apprenticeship as I want to help continue to support and progress this important and vital apprenticeship pathway. I am also Access Lead for TLT's social mobility committee, hoping to help raise aspirations of the next generations and to help drive a more equitable society.
