Kerry Russell

I am a solicitor specialising in Intellectual Property. Generally, my IP expertise centre around contentious IP disputes relating to patents, trade marks, passing off, UK and Community design rights, copyright and confidential information. I have worked on many cases in both the IPEC and High Court, including applications for interim relief. Cases I have dealt with include patent infringement proceedings, complex issues involving ownership of copyright subsisting in software code, rights in databases (including copyright, database right and confidential information), unregistered design rights and groundless threats of patent infringement. I also have non-contentious IP experience, including drafting collaboration agreements, IP licences and assignments, advising clients in relation to confidentiality agreements, and supporting and advising on IP aspects of corporate transactions. In addition, I have experience in drafting and advising on IT/Telecoms contracts; including drafting/reviewing supply agreements for telecoms re-sellers, software development agreements, Software as a Service (SAAS) contracts, as well as cookies policies, website T&Cs and acceptable use policies. I am also passionate about diversity and inclusivity in the workplace and am Head of Shakespeare Martineau’s internal diversity and inclusivity program.
