As a process control professional, practicing advanced process control since graduated 25 years ago, my favorite quote remains this one from Zig Ziglar “Success occurs when opportunity meets preparation” I have had the pleasure to sit in a presentation given by someone who led the advanced control lab of an international organization. This was back in 1999. He was asked when he would consider to move up the corporate ladder. This was what he said (not his exact words, but my own interpretation of his answer): ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ When the elevator opens its door to take the next person up in the organization, I would recommend one of my well trained employee in process control to take that elevator. I want to remain where I am so that I can continue to develop more people in process control, and help them understand the relevance of process control. This way, there will be people in the upper levels who understand and appreciate the importance of process control. They will help advance the course on the needs to develop and apply effective process control to prepare the organization to meet future challenges in manufacturing processes. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Does your organization have people with such visionary leadership style who can see the need for an organization to play The Infinite Game?
