About

At Elliott Group I lead a team of 60+ professionals that focus on developing and improving turbomachinery products and technologies for the oil & gas, chemical, petrochemical, and renewable energy industries. Previously I worked at Southwest Research Institute, Solar Turbines, GE, and Alstom in various positions from engineering to leadership management. My background is in machinery technology/applications for the oil & gas, renewable, and electric power industries. Having worked on hundreds of compression and generation plant projects, I am widely recognized as a technical expert on compressor stations, power plants, energy storage, gas turbines, combined cycles, centrifugal compressors, reciprocating compressors, and power cycles. I hold twelve patents (and 2 more pending), have authored over 370 technical papers, and co-authored/edited six textbooks on energy systems and storage. I'm an ASME Fellow, won an R&D 100 award in 2007 for my Semi-Active Valve invention, won the ASME Industrial Gas Turbine Award in 2016, and 13 individual ASME Oil & Gas Committee Best Paper awards. I am currently a board member of the Global Power & Propulsion Society and I was the past chair of the ASME-IGTI Board of Directors, Chairman of the ASME Oil & Gas Applications Committee, and editor of the Global Gas Turbine News. Currently I am the chair of the sCO2 Power Cycles Symposium, the chair of the ASME Oil & Gas Applications Committee, chair of the Thermo-Mechanical Energy Storage Workshop and a member of the API 616 and ASME PTC-10 Task Forces, the Asia Turbomachinery Symposium, and the Fan Conference Advisory Committee. I am the Executive Correspondent and regular columnist of Turbomachinery International Magazine, Gas Compression Magazine, and a past Associate Editor of the ASME Journal of Gas Turbines for Power and Elsevier Solar Power Journal.
