Kristin Cooper now serves as the Assistant Director of the Clark County Social Service. To her work, she brings 27 years of experience in the non-profit and government sectors, along with a passion for housing and community development. Her work with affordable housing began at Anchorage Neighborhood Housing Services in 1993. While in Alaska, she completed the Municipality of Anchorage’s first-ever Consolidated Plan for U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development programs including Community Development Block Grant, HOME Investment Partnerships, and Emergency Shelter (now Solutions) Grant. In 1996, Kristin moved to Las Vegas, joining the City of Las Vegas’ Neighborhood Services Department as a Senior Planner where she combined her HUD planning skills and neighborhood planning experience. In 1998, she was recruited by Clark County, Nevada, where she served as Senior Planner, Principal Planner and Manager in Community Resources Management. Her career has focused on identifying and meeting community needs through the investment of HUD resources. Her vision remains to end homelessness, expand the availability of high quality affordable housing for low-income families and to reduce poverty through community development opportunities in low-income areas. Kristin has a B.A in International Studies from the University of Washington Henry M. Jackson School and a M.P.A from the University of Nevada-Las Vegas.
