Kurt Koester

Kurt Koester is a medical technology executive with a proven track record of successful new product development. He identifies new business opportunities, creates business plans and strategy to support investments, and leads product development to capitalize on these opportunities. His work has established enabling technologies, modular technologies for multiple iterations of products, and licensing agreements to leverage external innovations. He has also lead the creation of a diagnostics and monitoring product line. He engages with customers, collaborators, and stakeholders to build relationships, increase sales, and drive product development and launch. This provides early market insight, ensures incorporation of customer feedback, and creates champions in the field to help promote product adoption and use. Kurt has broad experience in the medical technology field. He has led design and development of a monitoring system that provides real-time electrophysiological feedback during surgery and for patient monitoring to improve the quality and cost effectiveness of care delivery. Crucially he has had experience driving the a full spectrum of technologies through the development process, e.g., hardware, software, implant hermetic packaging, and electrode array technologies. He started his career in the medical field at Lawrence Berkeley National Labs working on bone substitute materials, biomaterials, and utilizing fracture mechanics to characterize biological tissues. Kurt received his bachelors in materials science from the University of Minnesota, his Masters and Ph.D. In materials science from the University of California, Berkeley, and his MBA from the University of California, Los Angeles.
