Laura DeFusco

Like most others in insurance, I fell into this industry. But what surprised me most was discovering that my "fall" was actually the rise of my career and finding out what I love to do the most - helping people. As the oldest sibling and oldest of my cousins, I always was the "helper" of the family. I helped with simple tasks such as cooking and cleaning around the house and eventually began tutoring and playing the role of "teacher". Now, I may not have absolutely loved the cleaning part, but I did love being there for my family and helping out where I could. This led me to join the Girl Scouts as a teenager, where I was able to expand beyond just helping my family members and making an impact around the community. I attended food banks, prepared kits for the homeless, contributed toward helping marine life, and participated in the Donate Life 5k among other types of activities. All of this has played a huge part in my life and truly built the foundation of my passion for helping others. I am thrilled that Burnham Benefits allows me to build upon that passion by mentoring others on health insurance and understanding employee benefits while still being dedicated to making a difference in our communities. Health insurance is one of the most complex and convoluted systems in the country, yet it is also one of the most important to know. I strive to make understanding the healthcare system simple for my clients while still being their biggest advocate. Providing employers with the best employee benefits program for their specific needs while keeping them abreast of the latest laws and requirements along with providing exceptional service has been my passion for the last 10+ years. I am so happy to continue this journey and make an impact on others no matter how big or small that might be.
