About
I am an early career clinical-researcher, with a clinical background in low-intensity CBT / PWP practice. My work is currently funded by a competitively awarded NIHR Three Schools Mental Health Fellowship, hosted by University of Exeter in collaboration with the University of Bristol. I'm passionate about building research and practice capacity in the mental health service 'gap' – for those who continue to have unmet needs within existing mental health services; and individuals who may have been excluded from accessing support. I plan to continue to build a joint clinical-academic career with this specific focus in mind. I’m interested in translational clinical research across the phases of intervention development and implementation; as well as pragmatic approaches and embedding research and evaluation into routine care. I’m also passionate about building research capacity in underserved psychological professions, such as the low intensity/ PWP workforce, and psychological therapists trained in non-CBT modalities. My current fellowship aims to improve mental health and wellbeing in underserved populations. Specifically, my work focuses on developing and evaluating training interventions to support primary care clinicians (IAPT & GP) to work more effectively with individuals who struggle to regulate their emotions, manage relationships with others and their sense of self, who may have been exposed to stressful or traumatic experiences during early life. This collection of difficulties is sometimes referred to as 'personality difficulties', a 'personality disorder', 'complex emotional difficulties' or 'complex trauma'. My work is interdisciplinary and integrates expertise from across primary care, the VCSE and social care sector and public health.
