Lauren Hames

Originally from Denver, Colorado, I have always been attracted to visual mediums and how they communicate to viewers. Throughout my early education I felt an attraction to communication beginning with creative writing, poetry, and progressing to longer research papers. This began by exploring studio art developing inspiration from artistic movements like dada, minimalism, and pop art. As I continued my education I began to tailor it to intersect these interests. I felt a pull to a larger city, which was a reason I chose Chicago. After receiving merit based scholarships I decided to attend Loyola University of Chicago for my undergraduate education. With the communication school in the heart of downtown Chicago I knew this was the place to develop my storytelling abilities. This choice developed my work with exploration in digital formats, and how stories are now told in this new age of communication. I have a keen interest in international stories, focusing on culture, art, politics and the environment.
