About

For the past ten years, I have been achieving my life-long goal of being a teacher. In September 2020 I assumed the position of Assistant Curriculum Leader, Building Capacity and Supporting Achievement: English/Social Sciences at Forest Hill Collegiate Institute. I also teach History, English, Social Sciences, and Student Success. Over the course of my decade of teaching experience in the TDSB, I’ve worked at Agincourt Collegiate Institute, City School, Newtonbrook Secondary School, Rosedale Heights School of the Arts, Western Technical-Commercial School, and Earl Haig Secondary School. I am an Ontario Certified Teacher, qualified to teach English, History, ESL, Special Education, Drama, and Library. I also have an Honours Specialist in English and an Honours Specialist in History. As an Associate Teacher with the Masters of Teaching program at OISE I help to train teacher candidates. I presented at the Ontario History and Social Sciences Teachers Association (OHASSTA) conference in 2020 and 2017. As an Executive Member of the Toronto History, Humanities and Social Sciences Subject Council (THHSSSC) and a Teacher Leader for Facing History and Ourselves Canada, I help to create and facilitate opportunities for teachers to network and learn together. I also contribute to the blogs for OHASSTA and Facing History Ontario. I strive to be an active member of the school communities that I work in within and beyond the classroom. At each school, my goal is to build lasting relationships with the staff, administration, parents and most importantly, students. I've served as the staff adviser to student government and improv club, and as coach to swimming and badminton teams. I've worked to integrate critical thinking into a School Improvement Plan, and led professional development programs on new teaching technologies. I’m passionate about teaching for equity and social justice, and am actively working to make my classroom and my school a place where students who identify as Indigenous, Black, a Person of Colour, LGBTQ2S+, or any other historically marginalized group feels welcome and can succeed.
