Leah Zimmermann

I am a hardworking, energetic, and flexible new graduate nurse with excellent critical thinking skills. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing with a minor in psychology from The College of St. Scholastica May 2014. I am licensed through the State of MN and currently working as a Registered Nurse at Regions hospital. Through this position I have been trained to critically think and prioritize patient needs. I continue to learn and care for complex patients coming directly from the operating room or who have been admitted/airlifted as a Trauma. Most, if not all of the patients I care for are intubated and sedated. On my days off I continue to work for Provident Home Healthcare. Through this position, I am gaining great hands-on experience with PEG tubes, tracheostomy sites, and ventilators. I provide direct nursing care for patients with varied diagnoses including muscular dystrophy, stroke, diabetes, quadriplegia, spinal cord injury, depression and terminal illness. I'm enthusiastic and passionate about starting my lifelong career as a nurse. I love the autonomy I get with home healthcare along with the direct one to one care I'm able to give my clients. Five years from now I see myself as an OR scrub nurse or working as a travel nurse. I plan to go back to school and obtain my Master's as a Clinical Nurse Specialist or become a Family Nurse Practitioner.
