I serve as the Accounting Manager in the Accounting Operations group at BBVA USA. I support the month end close process and monthly accounting and analysis activities. This includes monitoring and assessing the various systems and reporting tools integral to the close process, posting journal entries, performing balance sheet reconciliations and ad hoc analysis to identify and resolve issues with financial impact. My responsibilities in Accounting Operations include several large reconcilements such the FED and Wire Clearing accounts via Frontier software, monitoring and reporting of Other Assets and Other Liabilities, REIT accounting, analysis of Intercompany Accounts and TEFRA backup withholding. I provide reporting on a regular basis and manage internal and year-end external audit deliverables required from the department. I address accounting related queries and resolve problems and issues promptly to deliver excellent customer service. I pro-actively seek areas to improve the transactional accounting function and related internal processes. I build the capabilities, tools, and skills within the general accounting team by driving high levels of individual accountability, engagement, empowerment and development, thus providing support for all direct reports to be successful in their roles. I began my career with the Bank directly involved with the compliance and reporting of information to the FDIC related to assets covered by a loss share agreement. This included compilation of FDIC certificates, accounting for and management of the reporting of those loans, and maintaining policies and procedures related to the FDIC reporting process, ensuring that adequate controls existed and were in place to comply with the provisions of the loss share agreement. Before joining the BBVA USA team, I worked in public accounting where I served in both accounting and management capacities. I am a graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a B. A. In Accounting and of the University of South Alabama with a B.A. In Finance.
