Leila Mizen

Textiles in Practice (BA HONS) and PGCE Primary and Early Years (3-7) with QTS Graduate. I realised my vocation is to become a teacher when I started to work as an unqualified nursery practitioner in 2019 which led me to enrol in the Primary and Early Years PGCE at Bath Spa University. I feel that I have the best job in the world as there is nothing better than working with children, supporting them in their development and inspiring them to love learning. I believe that children learn through making and doing so I use my Textiles degree to plan creative lessons such as: making dinosaur fossils out of black paper and paper straws and painting landscapes using the technique of Pointillism. I feel that a good teacher follows the National Curriculum but incorporates their own talents and interests to engage the students. Completing my PGCE during the Pandemic has made me flexible and given me experience of adapting to change and stressful situations. I feel that these attributes make me an even better teacher as I am able to deal with challenging circumstances.
