Lisa Hughes

A Second City Summer Scholarship recipient, the body of Lisa’s work can be seen in the Leo award-winning comedy series, The Actress Diaries, where she held the role of showrunner and lead actor over three seasons. The series received two wins from seven nominations for the British Columbia Film & Television Awards, and led to Lisa’s nomination for Best Female Performance (Comedy) for the International Academy of Web Television Awards in Los Angeles. A Little Joy Productions was formed by Marni Little and Lisa Hughes in 2020 after a serendipitous meeting over the buffet at the Gold Coast Film Festival’s Women in Film lunch in 2019. Most notable is their collective work with Northern Pictures and Screen Australia on She's Got Balls in the last 12 months. In their first project together, they were recipients of the Gold Coast City Council Regional Arts Fund. This grant allowed them to employ 35 local creatives in the production of a POC to pitch at Screen Forever last year. At the event, they successfully signed an option deal with Northern Pictures and soon after landed Screen Australia development funding. Together, they have created a strange yet succinct brand of outlandish, honest, clean humour that is different from anything you've seen and guaranteed not to go the way you think it will. Like Tina Fey and Amy Poehler - these two belong together. Lisa previously wrote and produced short-form comedy under the company name, Just Joy Entertainment.
