I am a firm believer that high expectations and goal setting for all students will result in greater educational achievement. I support evidence based teaching practices that will generate positive outcomes for all students. As an instructor, I have provided professional development on various topics such as differentiation of instruction, accommodations/modifications and writing quality IEPs. I support special education teachers with instructional and behavioral classroom strategies. I provide professional development to case managers on various district wide policies and procedures around special education services. As an administrator, I know how to approach staff, students and parents directly and tactfully when they have concerns or questions. I have excellent communication, organization and interpersonal skills. I am willing to listen to people who may or may not agree with me without becoming defensive and confrontational. I use criticism as an opportunity to make self-improvements without feeling threatened. I have demonstrated good judgment with decision making and as result I have gained trust from school administrators, school staff, and parents. As a District Representative, I have taken part in IEP meetings and due process hearings. I have ensured that the provision of services to students with disabilities, including placement in specialized programs is appropriate and fulfills district compliance requirement. In an effort to increase my expertise in the area of special education I have obtained an endorsement for Director of Special Education.
