About
I am currently pursuing PhD research with the Institute of Infection of Global Health, University of Liverpool - in a HPRU funded collaboration with Public Health England. My research is focused on the development of climate-driven models to forecast the spatio-temporal activity of Ixodes ricinus ticks and Lyme disease risk in England and Wales. This project will combine several datasets, including field assessments of I. ricinus seasonal distribution, Lyme disease case data, as well as macro and microclimate data. Previous to this, I worked as a GLP-trained diagnostic scientist with a veterinary diagnostics laboratory, specializing in molecular and serological virology techniques. I hold and MSc. in International Animal Health from the University of Edinburgh. My key interests include; disease emergence and evolution, pathogen jump between species, human/wildlife/livestock interface and the implications for disease spread and socioeconomic development , climatic change and habitat degradation as drivers for pathogen/vector dispersal, disease emergence and wildlife extinctions.
