Liz is the first Chief Executive of the Association for Citizenship Teaching (ACT). She leads work with trustees on strategy and governance, and directs key Programmes including the Five Nations Network for citizenship in the UK and Ireland. Until 2017 she Chaired Democratic Life, a coalition of 40 organisations and 800 individuals who successfully campaigned to retain Citizenship education in the National Curriculum. Liz has over 20 years experience and a successful track record in: senior management and leading teams to deliver national education programmes education policy and practice with expertise in National Curriculum, assessment, GCSE and A level qualifications and Citizenship advocacy and lobbying to influence policy makers charity strategy, advice, governance and impact developing national education policy guidelines for schools on curriculum and teacher assessment producing print, online and video based education materials advice to Awarding Organisations on GCSE and A level qualifications writing for publications and websites and contributing to books on citizenship and the teaching of democracy speaking at conferences and meetings, chairing and contributing to government advisory committees. She has worked with the Department for Education and other government departments, national bodies, charities, local authorities, awarding organisations and schools.
