Lori Colbert

I have earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education (K-9), with a middle school endorsement and emphasis on Language Arts; a Master of Arts in Education Degree in Curriculum and Instruction; and a Master of Education Degree in School Leadership. In addition, I gained an administrative license (Type 75) after completing the coursework and passing the required assessment. With twelve years of hands-on teaching experience and a rigorous internship during my administrative degree coursework, I am confident that I possess the qualifications your school needs to promote its philosophy, goals, and high standard of academic excellence. I am currently a self-contained gifted educator in fourth grade in the Park Forest – Chicago Heights School District, where I have served on a variety of school committees and task forces on both curriculum and student development; been an educator for the Illinois Math and Science Academy’s Fusion program, which is a math and science inquiry-based program; mentored beginning teachers; and served as a cooperating teacher for college students in the education field. These opportunities have enabled me to develop strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills, which allow me to cultivate a supportive learning environment and reinforce the school’s standards, policies, and goals. My greatest strengths include: adapting to a variety of environments, organization, multi-tasking, performance standards development, teacher mentoring, curriculum design and improvement, standardized testing, program coordination and management, workshop and seminar presentations, technology, parent and community involvement, and people skills. Furthermore, I am adept at fostering strong working relationships with all members of the local and school communities. As Principal, I aspire to establish a school culture and education program conducive to student learning and socialization.
