Call me Miss Big-Picture. I've never been one for knowledge silos, which is just as well, because the challenges of today’s world need integrated solutions and that's my forte. I’m difficult to categorize because my experience and interests cover quite a gamut. I’ve studied both electrical and mechanical engineering, specializing first in renewable energy and sustainability in grad school, then spending over a decade with medical devices. I managed projects and loved being able to make connections and work with teams to achieve goals. I’ve been a writer since childhood, and am equally at ease with technical specifications, user instructions, and project reports. (Oh, and novels. I have two in progress - feel free to ask about those!) I’m also an artist, and have also used the Adobe Creative Suite for everything from laying out newsletters to editing photography. Aside from engineering, I’ve studied theology and the humanities, where I am focusing on the effect of technology on our relationship to community and ritual. Oddly enough, I got into this because of engineering. Technical solutions mean nothing without people – whether as co-workers, customers, suppliers, or community members – and my passion is for human thriving. So what may seem like a circuitous path has actually laid the foundation for what I am most excited about – the opportunity to work with teams who share my vision and passion for human flourishing. To add to my background in the medical device industry, I believe in proactively promoting healthy environments, whether physical or social. I also believe in creating safe and supportive work communities whose benefits extend beyond the company’s walls—to clients, customers, even competitors.
