Luigi Scaccianoce

Luigi Scaccianoce was born in Catania in 1977. He began studying of the double bass in 1999 under the guidance of Stefano Senni, Paolo Ghetti and especially Aldo Zunino and John Webber. He attended music workshops led by Buster Williams, Steve Gut, Jimmy Cobb, Eddie Henderson, Bobby Durham, Benny Golson. In 2001 he enrolled at the Conservatory G.B. Martini in Bologna, where he attended the course "Jazz and improvised music of the twentieth century." In 2005, in Bologna, he graduated from DAMS with a final test about "African American musical culture." The work is a 'musical analysis works about the bassist Henry Grimes: He produced a score of 108/110. Since the beginning of his career he has had the opportunity to play with many musicians of the jazz scene including: Gianni Basso, Gianni Cazzola, Carlo Atti, Piero Odorici, Giancarlo Bianchetti, Jimmy Villotti, Tom Kirkpatrick, Luca Velotti, Antonio Ciacca, Steve Grossman, Stjepko Steve Gut, Les de Merle, Massimo Chiarella, Danilo Memoli, Owen Hart, Nico Menci, Mannutza Luca, Andrea Pozza, Sholar Kelvin, and also Peppe Merolla and Vincent Herring,etc.. He also participated in various exhibitions and festivals Italian such as Bologna Jazz Festival, etc. He is currently engaged in concert with the SMS TRIO (since 2005).He is a'member of the quartet of Jimmy Villotti (former guitarist for Paolo Conte) from the 2003 lineup of Steve Gut (since 2007) and "Blakey Legacy" leading by Gianni Cazzola. 2008) In 2010, officially is member of the Les de Merle quartet who in the '70s accompanied the Harry James Orchestra and has collaborated with the Manhattan Transfer and international artists.
