About
Personally I strongly believe that student style of learning has changed, and that accordingly, we have to change the way we teach, stimulate and guide students to communicate, collaborate and lead in this digital age. Methods of the past, especially the idea that knowledge can only be gained from standard printed books and students can only learn in face to face situations, from a traditional teacher, using traditional methods is an idea of the past. We need to teach using 21st century skills and competencies, and instill these skills and competencies in students. Just like every major societal 'revolution', we have reached and passed the introduction of the digital age. It is up to us to embrase the changes or be left behind. As lecturer at the University of the Dutch Caribbean I lectured on the subjects of Strategic Human Resource Management, International Management, Cross-Cultural Management, Ethics and Integrity and communication skills. I also coach internship students and thesis students. As guest lecturer at the University of Curacao I lectured on Sociology and International Developments and on Human Resource Management at the Social and Economics Faculty. In the past I also lectured on research methods for bachelor students at the general faculty. In 2012 I composed the Framework for Scientific Policy and Research for Curacao. This is the first framework on this topic in Curacao. As manager of the Dutch program "wet samen" which was a law passed to promote the employment of immigrants in the Netherlands, I achieved a revision of the communication with employers. I also revised the reporting system to the government and fortified the team spirit between all employees working for the organization on this specific program.
