Luke Taylor

I have a Chemistry degree (BSc) from Hull University. This has involved theoretical and practical learning in inorganic, organic, physical and analytical chemistry. As well as working independently a number of exercises have been completed in a team. Practical elements have ranged from synthesis work to the determination of physical properties and has required the work to be written up in the form of reports. I have also gained experience in Testing and Analysing website designs. My final year project is titled “Computational Chemistry of Main Group Hydrides: Correlation with Experimental Data” Since graduating I have worked as a Lab Technician in DETS working in organic soil and water extractions. I was quickly promoted to an Analyst role, which allowed me to take responsibility for running and maintaining a GC-MS, looking for PCBs. I then moved to Smither Viscient, as a Lab Tech in the Environmental Fate and Metabolism department, where I now work, again quickly being promoted to Chemist (1) with responsibilities ranging from extractions, concentrations and HPLC analysis of radio-labeled compounds. I have also been given a role aiding in the day to day maintenance and troubleshooting of the hplc systems, in a transitory role with the aim of taking full responsibility by January 2019.
