As the Citywide NYCELL Coordinator I supervise six sites located in the boroughs of New York City. The Family Literacy Associates (FLA), who deliver the NYCELL curriculum to parents and their children ages one year to three-years-and-nine-months, work under my direct supervision. The NYCELL curriculum provides parents with twelve weeks of developmentally appropriate, researched based early literacy workshops. The over-arching goal of NYCELL is to provide parents with the necessary tools to help them be their child’s first teacher. I am responsible for scheduling the on-going professional development for the NYCELL staff. I also collaborate with consultants, vendors, New York City Housing Authority staff and city officials to support the continued growth of the program. I am responsible for the budget, data collection, evaluation, the ordering of materials for each site and development of curriculum materials. The NYCELL program has reached over 3,000 families since its inception in 2004.
