About
In 2008, I lived in Belize where I experienced an epiphany in my life. With a psychology degree and desire to pursue art therapy, I volunteered at a shelter for disadvantaged boys and girls who had been taken out of their homes due to abandonment, neglect, and abuse. I discovered that the kids with whom I became very involved had survived situations I never thought were possible. Living there and, in my small way, helping to better the lives of these children was not only fulfilling, but inspired me to become a Pediatric ICU RN and Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. I began my PICU career on the south side of Chicago at a level-one trauma center. My time there taught me how to be patient and skillful in emergency situations and enhanced my knowledge of the vast world of pediatric acute care illnesses. While working full-time as an RN, I went to graduate school part-time, where I spent most clinic days in a pediatric primary care office. After graduate school, I moved to San Diego and worked in the PICU at Rady Children's Hospital until graciously accepting a PNP position at San Diego Pediatrics. I'm thrilled to be advancing my career alongside this exceptional medical team treating illnesses and promoting health and wellness in our pediatric community. Furthermore, my mission trips to Haiti every January continue to expand my medical knowledge and experience, in particular by introducing me to ailments and illnesses that are not typically seen here in the United States.
