Lynn Godfrey joined Girl Scouts of the USA as its first chief strategy officer in early November 2014, under the guidance of the CEO. With over twenty years of nonprofit and corporate experience in the kids, youth, and family arena, Lynn heads a multidisciplinary team that leads work in brand marketing, communications, research, national meetings and public events, global initiatives and partnerships, strategic planning, and public policy. She works with counterparts across the organization to ensure effectiveness and synergy, and that strategies are in line with Girl Scouts' mission, while at the same time challenging the status quo. Lynn also oversees our Washington, DC office of Public Policy and Advocacy. Lynn joins us from the Greater New York American Red Cross, where she steered all aspects of strategic marketing, communications and media, and government and community relations for the country's largest Red Cross region, serving 13 million people. Prior to that Lynn served as the chief communications officer for the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA), where she oversaw integrated, multilingual campaigns across 334 local public housing communities to build consumer engagement, enhance customer service delivery, and support partnerships. She has held various marketing and communications leadership positions at Viacom, Nickelodeon, and PBS, targeting kids, youth, and parents. She started her career in advertising and marketing with Young &a; Rubicam and later with American Express. Lynn is a member of the National Association for Multi-Ethnicity in Communications, the Digital Diversity Network, and the Association for Women in Communications. She holds a bachelor's degree from Wesleyan University and a master's degree in marketing from Northwestern University's JL Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
