Immigration Paralegal, Immigrant Protection Unit, NYLAG. Maria assists clients with immigration aspects, adjustment of status, family petitions, provisional waivers, consular processing, and other humanitarian relief, VAWA self-petition, Asylum, and removal defense. Prior to joining NYLAG, Maria worked as a immigration paralegal at Youman, Madeo, and Fasano Law Firm, in the role of “family form based and consular processing specialist”. She also has worked as Junior attorney, providing legal representation in criminal, family and immigration law in Dominican Republic. Having moved to the United States, for the 7 past years she has worked with variety immigrants on their immigration cases and status. Maria is a volunteer of Madre Latina Org, educating, empowering and connecting women, victims of DV with the community resources. Maria has a Law Degree from the Dominican Republic, graduated in Magna Cum Laude honor, Paralegal Certificate AAS from Plaza College in New York and LL.M from Brooklyn Law School is projected for 2020 to be admitted as an International Attorney.
