Madeline Prelee, PhD

A creative and experienced data scientist with a passion for algorithms, (really) big data, and clear insights. With 6 years of R&D experience in ad-tech, I work with "billions and billions" of rows of data on a daily basis, often on the Terabyte scale. For one project in particular, I researched, designed, and productionized a large-scale unsupervised learning algorithm. This algorithm processes 300M rows of data per day, and has increased our ability to message users by about 7%. I have a passion for Python and linux/unix. On a daily working basis, I typically write in Scala (with Spark), SQL, and shell-scripting languages, but my professional and academic programming experience spans 18 years and 10 programming languages. Additionally, my background in statistical signal processing has provided me with a solid theoretical background in probabilistic modeling and robust algorithm design. After work, I spend my time board gaming, running, and exploring Chicago!
