About

I graduated on June 2018 as NanoTechnolog Engineer from Zewail City. My graduation project was a sensor that gives a probability for a patient to have a genetic disease in other words, the probability to have eg. Breast cancer. The project reports a compact silicon on insulator (SOI) optical biosensor with its electrical interface. The design is based on micro ring resonator for DNA hybridization detection. The optical simulation is made by finite difference time domain (FDTD) via Lumerical software package. The geometrical parameters of the ring resonator are studied to maximize the optical sensitivity of the suggested design. It is found that maximum sensitivity of 297 nm/RIU can be achieved using the proposed biosensor. Further, the challenge of converting the optical to electrical signal is introduced to present the resonance wavelength shift due to DNA hybridization by developing a photo-electric library on cadence Virtuoso using Verilog-A. Additionally, the integration between photonic and electronic devices is implemented at circuit and system level. Furthermore, both waveguide and ring resonators’ masks are developed using imec-ePIXfab, SiPhotonics passives technology.
