Marcos Lucero

PhD graduate in Chemical engineering. My research expertise is focused on electrochemical energy storage devices such as lithium and sodium-ion batteries for applications in electric vehicles and stationary energy storage. I combine electrochemical characterization (e.g., cyclic voltammetry (CV), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and galvanostatic charge/discharge cycling (GCD)) with physical characterization techniques (e.g., X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), X-ray diffraction (XRD)) to guide my research by understanding electronic and geometric structure changes. I have independently conducted experiments at multiple synchrotron facilities such as the Advanced Photon Source (APS), the Advanced Light Source (ALS), and the Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Lightsource (SSRL). Synchrotron experiments include hard and soft XAS using multiple modes (e.g. Transmission, fluorescence, and electron yield).
