Marlene M. Maheu, PhD

Dr. Maheu is the founder and Executive Director of Telehealth.org -- formerly Telebehavioral Health Institute (TBHI Telehealth.org), where she oversees telebehavioral health professional training via eLearning to train clinicians from 109 countries, and bestows the "Board Certified Telehealth Professional" certification to graduates. The Institute also offers staffing and consultation in: Telebehavioral Health Distance Counseling Telehealth Telemental Health E-Therapy Online Therapy Mobile Health (mHealth) Risk Management Telemedicine Videoconferencing Speaking and key-noting internationally, Dr. Maheu has trained more than 64,000 professionals in legal and ethical best practices for telehealth and various technologies. She has been a Faculty Associate of the Nicholas A. Cummings Doctor of Behavioral Health Program, Arizona State University. She has written 48 peer-reviewed articles and is the lead author of five telehealth textbooks. As the Co-Founder of the Coalition for Technology in Behavioral Science (CTiBS), she has spearheaded interdisciplinary Telebehavioral Health Competencies, the Journal for Technology in Behavioral Science (JTiBS), and credentialing for telemental health. Having earned her real estate license when she was 18, she has dabbled in the purchase and sale of real estate for decades as a licensed CA broker. She used her real estate proceeds to self-fund her telehealth services company. Since her twenties, she has been an organic gardener who now enjoys tending to an extensive collection of flowers and exotic plants in San Diego, where she lives with her spouse. She is an avid traveler, music enthusiast and dog lover.
