Marnie Van Esbroeck, MAN RD CDE

After spending 10 years in the financial industry primarily working in customer service and staff development, I decided to pursue a career change to nutrition & dietetics. I was driven to this field through personal interest in my own food skills, and being able to make an impact on chronic disease and the health of my community. I’m nearing the end of the Master of Applied Nutrition (MAN) program at the University of Guelph, and will be pursuing licensing as a Registered Dietitian (almost there!). Many of the skills I gained in banking have served me well as a dietetic student and intern: communication and customer service, organization and time management, problem solving, quality improvement and developing others. This gives me the ability to bring a fresh perspective to the health care sector. In the MAN program I was able to further develop my skills in the nutrition care process, patient counselling, project management, and research. MAN Business project: A medical weight loss program for older adults with BMI 30-40.
