Poole Dick is a construction project and cost management consultancy with offices in Manchester and Stoke on Trent. As a director of Poole Dick I'm responsible for setting and achieving the company's strategic objectives. But although there's a great deal of technical knowledge and experience required in this business, I've found that success comes from relationship building and people skills as much as anything. In fact in a recent survey of UK jobs likely to disappear through automation in the next 15 years, quantity surveying ranked way down the list - it's a uniquely human business! I've been with Poole Dick almost 30 years but it's never felt insular or one-dimensional. That's down to the varied nature of the work and the different situations, companies and personalities you deal with every day. I'm proud to have played a part in shaping Poole Dick's 2020 Vision, to establish the 'Poole Dick Way' as a model within the UK construction industry.
