About

I am an experienced scientist with core proficiencies in a wide range of areas including islet biology, ion channel/pump biophysics, GPCR signaling, cell metabolism, diabetes pathophysiology, patch-clamp electrophysiology, molecular biology, and drug delivery. I completed my BS and PhD in chemical engineering at the University of Kentucky with a focus on new approaches to improving biomaterial performance. After receiving my PhD in chemical engineering I moved to the University of Kentucky Cancer Nanotechnology Training Center where I developed photoactivatable chemotherapeutics and engineered nanoparticle delivery systems for tumor-targeted drug delivery. Currently, I work as a research instructor in laboratory of David A. Jacobson at Vanderbilt University. The Jacobson lab studies the mechanisms that control islet cell hormone secretion, the pathophysiology of type 1 and type 2 diabetes, and approaches to restore or improve islet function under these conditions. Locations of interest: Denver, CO Seattle, WA Portland, OR San Diego, CA San Francisco, CA Chicago, IL
